As you observed, poker is became very popular in England and in the rest of the world. It is more and more popular on TV and everywhere so, it is time for you as well to start this amazing game.

When you are beginner, you must need some explanations to understand the game, so this is why I will describe just for you the start of the game.

Your seat in poker tournament

* It depends, if you play a poker tournament, the manager of the tournament will decide for you.
* If you play with your friends, you can seat whatever you want you just need a table and some chairs.

How do you attribute the dealer?

When everyone is seated down at the table, everyone pick up a card and the highest one is the dealer. You can also deal the card like the clockwise and the first player who gets an Ace is the dealer. There are so more possibilities to attribute the dealer but 2 would be enough for you.

The small Blind

You have found the dealer, now you have to know, that in Poker, you have the small blind (SB) and the big blind (BB). The small blind means that the person has to bet a small sum of chips or coins or whatever you are playing. The person is just beside the dealer on the left. The SB has to call the BB if they want to play but it is not an obligation.

The big Blind

The BB means that you have to bet the big sum of chips before the pre flop. So before the deal, even if you don’t want to it you have to do it. It is the way to force everyone to play and get a fair game because if you don’t do it, some players won’t play until the head up. All of the players have to call the big blind and if someone wants to raise the BB, everyone will have to call the raiser. The big blind is the double of the small blind.

For example: At the beginning of the game, everyone is betting £10, you shared the chips between all of the players (same amount). The dealer is me and you are on my left, so at the beginning you are the small blind and we decide that the SM would be $25 and the BB would be $50. The BB is just beside you. If the other players want to play they have to match the BB and the SM has to put the double to play if no one raise on it.

Before the pre flop, the first person to talk is the person beside the BB and after the preflop the first person to talk is the SB or the first person on the left. If the SB folds the person beside will be the person who will talk first etc. At the end of the game, the SB becomes dealer and the BB becomes small blind.
